Unhappy Downloading speed after reformat

Hi, I recently reformatted my computer and have had no trouble with it so far but I noticed that when I am download files (small/big) it is pretty slow compared to my fast download speeds I used to recieve before I reformatted. It doesn't make much sense to me because the download/upload speeds seem to be the same when I run it through connection test-sites. Files that would be 4mb take about 2-4minutes longer. Internet pages also take a 1-2seconds more to show up then they used to. It seems kind of odd. Does anyone know why this is happening or what I should do? Any help or advice is appreciated! Thanks.

Hi Joe5, thanks for the reply. I have reset my router but no luck. I am pretty sure I have updated drivers for everything but I noticed that when I looked at my Modem in Device manager there was Intel(R)536EP Modem. Can anyone tell me how to check what the model of the modem you have? All mine says in the front is WebSTAR, im not sure if the Intel modem is supposed to be there or it is supposed to be another one.

Hi gaminneo, if you turn over your modem it may say your model type on a sticker, or it should say it on a box or instruction manual that came with the modem, hope this helps urs dave

how foolish am i It was a webSTAR DPX2100. I tryed to find drivers for that but I think the only drivers are the USB drivers (i am not using usb but ethernet).
edit: I noticed that when my computer is turning off it says "Closing Network connections" where it did not do that before I reformatted. Is this normal or should I be worried that I set up something wrong. Could it be from the windows updates?

hi again, the closing network connections message is no problem to ur comp so don't worry, this most likely comes up because you have a network card in your computer, i managed to find two websites with drivers for you modem, i think one of them is for usb but i don't know, think its best you look, the first one is here http://home.online.bg/customer/setup/drivers-en.htm, and the second one which contains webstar full installation disk is here http://www.sciatl.com/products/consu...edownloads.htm, but for a direct link to the download for the full installation disk click HERE, hope this helps in sumway, urs dave
