Default Saving radio programs

I am really green on this. I would like to download certain radio shows saving for future listening . I might also like to edit them and condense them and resaving or "burning". I have Media Player and Real player. I don't see any options for this - the programs just start playing.
please remember that I am a newbee at this

Have a look here for an easy way recording it directly from youre soundcard:

Thanks for the suggestions. However, I am still just getting started and need a basic education.

1. I assume the music is in digital files and is saved somewhere on my computer.
Where would I find it?____________________.

Does it matter if WAV or MP3 etc?. __________________________
For highest quality what format is best? ___________________
I have not seen anything about whether you can edit the broadcast to cut or modify pieces of it.____________________

2. There seem to be two separate circumstances for broadcast downloads.
a: Live streaming
b: High speed download of ARCHIVED programs to be saved on the computer for future editing and listing.
Is there a difference in how I should treat these? ___________

I'm sorry to be so uninformed so I hope you hve some patience with me.

If you are using the first option i linked then it looks like it will ask you where its saved:

Launch the program and use your mouse to point to the different controls on the interface. Pop-up help will quickly explain each function.
Choose where you will save your audio file
Does it matter if WAV or MP3 etc?. __________________________

I would use MP3 , and you can probebly select the "bitrate" in the apps options. I would use 160 kbps , or higher.

For highest quality what format is best? ___________________

Make sure to select an high enough bitrate , the higher the bitrate the higher the quality.

I have not seen anything about whether you can edit the broadcast to cut or modify pieces of it.____________________

You would need separete editing software for that , something like this maybe:

The first would need to be recorded with an app like OpD2d , and the second will already be saved to youre HD automaticly , so no need to record those.
