I have had our wireless network going smoothly for a few weeks now, but there is one problem that keeps on persisting, every now and then the connection keeps on losing itself, is this normal with a wireless network or is there an explanation and a fix.

Is it possible that you're getting interference from an outside source maybe that's impeding your connection? I wouldn't know but I have a coule friends who've had some problems with theirs is all, myself i love my wires.

Yeah its probably not the wireless connection that's causing errors, but more likely the router, or network card drivers that aren't up to date. I've dealt with this problem too, after I updated my routers firmware, everything went smooth again...

OK spellbyte, I am probably going to have to send an email notifying you of this response :-D.

Anyway, a wireless network will receive interference from any wireless device, including but not limited to (great, now I sound like a lawyer :-D) portable phones (assuming they run on 2.4Ghz and not the new, high-frequency ones), cell phones, baby monitors, other nearby wireless networks, etc. So I would recommend checking for that and anything else that may be interfering with your connection.

I have checked for everything that could be interfering, and it's all clean, i have updated the routers firmware and drivers, as well as all my other drivers and all seems ok so far, it still has one of those annoying popup baloons that says it's disassociated with the network, but can still read online content on the laptop. so i just hope none of the neighbours gets anything that could interfere with it

Thanks for the tips guys
