Exclamation [Resolved] lan boot agent corrupt

hi everyone, i'm hoping someone can help me with this really wierd problem that started 2 days ago, i've phoned my network support and pc support helplines but they didnt have a clue what was going on.

i'll try to make this as detailed as possible so that someone smarter than me can maybe figure out what is going on.

when i boot up the pc i sometimes get this error message - pxe-e05 the lan adapters boot agent is corrupt or has not been initialized, although everything starts up fine i have discovered that the lan connection is saying it is lan connection 2 and also the information for my adapter is wrong - it says it is an intel 8255x pci ehternet adapter when in fact i know i have an intel p mini-pci ethernet adapter.

however this does not happen all the time, it often starts up fine with no error messages and the lan and adapter info are correct - however it says that there is no dhcp info but when the lan and adapter info are wrong is has dhcp info. I do not usually lose my internet connection during either of these times - it has happened twice since it happened but only for a few minutes each.

can anyone help me? is it a network issue or is my adapter about to be pushing up the daisies on its way to silicon heaven?

thanks in advance - nexus one

Re-boot the laptop. When it is just switching on, press the F1 key - this should get you in to the bios - when in the bios, look for the network adapters section and either enable or dis-able PXE on-boot (or whatever your says). save and re-boot.

so if the bios says its enabled i disable it and if its disabled i enable it is that what you mean?

any ideas on why it would go wrong and then work right sometimes?
