hey, wierd thing - this problem went away as quickly as it appeared, i didnt even get the bios upgrade done and its fixed itself, maybe it was a problem with the network?

thanks for all the helpful advice, and i'm sure i'll be back with more stupid pc problems when they come up. i think i'm jinxed with computers..

Indeed pretty strange.. it doesn't look like a prob that would go away on its own.. But if the prob is gone then i would just leave it for now since there is always a risk that updating the bios goes wrong and makes youre pc (motherboard) a paperweight..


And you know where to find us if you run in to anything else.
