Default Norton

Haha sorry I sould have asked you about this in my other topic I forgot

Ive got norton Internet security on my pc. Its been messing up since i got it. Problem 1 - Ive been playing this game called vietcong 2 online. If I connect to a server most times it wont let me in and says server lost - just before this sign comes up the norton alert thing comes up saying blocked attempted attack (it s gotta be related) It cant be a hacker so i think norton is blocking the game? online.
Problem 2 I installed a game called Knight worl orsomething and as I was going through the set up norton came up and asked do i want to allow access or something - I accidentally click no. But now everytime i go to the game it wont let me in. TO access it i have to turn off norton. Is there any way I can allow the game . I triend re install.

Hi the1985evs,

What is happening is that Norton Firewall is seeing the packets being sent to the game server as a trojan horse, etc. attepting to contact a server. We need to get this fixed because it is dangerous to turn off Norton. I am looking through my Norton software as I type this attempting to find a way to manually create an access rule, I will let you know when I come up with something.

OK, here we go...
Note: These instructions are based on Norton 2003. While these instructions may vary from version to version, or between Norton Internet Security, the basic idea should be universal across all versions.

Open Firewall or Internet Security and select "Norton Personal Firewall". On the sidebar, click "Configure".

In the window that opens, click the tab "Program Control". Find in the bottom pane "Manual Program Control" and click the button "Add". Now, go to C:\Program Files\ or wherever the game is installed and find the .exe file that runs the game. Often times it will take the name of the software. Double click on the .exe file that runs the game, when the find file pane disappears, click "OK". Try to play again.

OK, how about this.

In the Manual Control pane, scroll down until find the game. On the far right, there should be an option for what this program's security settings are. Click it and select "Allow All".
