Joe is right on the money, there is a personal version of Zone Alarm that is free.

Read this article, PCHF Protecting Your PC, it may answer some questions for you, and there is a link to a really good article comparing firewalls.

Sorry _ Ive been offline for quite a bit - I havnt installed it yet but I will this week - I ve got a guy coming on wednesday to replace a part in my PC so I didnt want to change round till then. I ll keep you informed
