Default [FIXED] Firfox restore help

Hi, I hope this is the right forum to ask this in. I'm on win2k and have a problem with my firefox browser. I was banned from a forum and when I tried to start up Firefox it asked me to create a new profile. In doing so, I have lost all my bookmarks and add ons. Is there a way to do a system restore to a day back so I can get my old settings back?

Well I use Firefox. And everytime I install the newest version. Al my bookmarks etc. seem to be dissapeared. But when I close it, and restart Firefox, everything is back. Are you sure this is not a temporarily problem?

:-) Hi J-ROC,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a team of very talented people on this site, and I am sure that we will be able to help you solve your problem.

I do not personally use Firefox, but one of our Junior Techs, Spacekid, is a dedicated user. He isn't online at the moment. But I will ask him to post to this thread as soon as he is back.

Hang in there.

Welcome to PC Help Forums .
I don't understand what you are setting up. I am unaware of a profile feature in FireFox. Can you please tell me exactly what feature this is?

Thanks guys? :-)

Spacekid, I've never seen the profile setup before either, but when I was banned (from a forum), firefox asked me to create a new profile and said that any previous stored info like bookmarks and extentions would be deleted. I said yes to the new profile, and now I have the basic Firefox (version 1.0.6) with none of my bookmarks or extensions. I didn't really understand why it was asking me that.

I'm willing to do a system restore if that's possible, I just need my bookmarks back!

OK, I want you to try a something for me.

Open the Recycle Bin by right-clicking on the icon and pressing "Open". In there, look for a file named "bookmarks.html". If you find one, restore it. If it is not there, let me know and I will look for another solution.

I had a look in the recycle bin but there's no bookmarks file in there.
