Default [Information/Pending] Internet Explorer Pages not Available

I think my IE is corrupted; however, I can't do anything about it because it's not on my Add/Remove program list, and then whenever I try to install that new version 6 SP 1 patch it says I have a new version installed (which I don't I believe). I can still get on IE, but some sites (that are supposed to work) say "the page cannot be found." Any idea how to repair IE?

If you want to re-installing youre I.E then follow these instructions:

Please go to:
start > run

and type this in:
regedit

Then click on the FILE menu and select export
Save the file as backup. Save the file somewhere you will remember and not delete.
IMPORTANT: make sure to set the export range to ALL

Then, go to start > run

and type this in:
notepad

Paste this into the box:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\
{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}]
"IsInstalled"=dword:00000000
Then click on the FILE menu and select save as
Save the file as regfix.reg. Save the file to the desktop.
IMPORTANT: make sure to save the file as "all types" and NOT as a text file

Now double click on fixreg.reg and insert it into the registry.

Then, go here, and reinstall Internet Explorer:
Internet Explorer Update

But could it maybe be spy/ad ware thats causing problems? You can also post a hijackthis log to check that. (see link below)

It still tells me I have a newer version installed.. is that even possible? Isn't this Version 6 SP1 the newest?

Oops.. one space to many ,it should work like this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}]
"IsInstalled"=dword:00000000

Youre log is clean.

About notepad , rightclick on a notepad file , select "open with" / "choose program" and then before selecting notepad first select "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" , then press ok and see if it works.
