Default [Fixed] Problem with Internet connection or loose router cable?

Dear Forum, glad that I've subscribed as a member, my previous problem is solved within a night. (why din I think of asking help earlier?!) ?:-D

Anyway another problem. My Internet connection. Currently I am using a Samsung modem with a Linksys router (2 PC to 1 internet connection). Everytime after switching on my PC, the internet is not "up". I have to plug off the cable behind my router, wait for abt 5 secs before plugging in again.

Is it a loose cable that causes this problem? Is there any way to solve?

Hope to seek some help here.
Thks. ?;-)

Default Problem with Internet connection or loose router cable?

Hi again.

When I copy and paste the IP address onto the browser, it displays "Cannot display page". The IP is http://192.168.1.1 (taken from the URL you gave).

Ok, you have to change the IP address on your PC so that it is within the IP range of the router;

Got to your desktop > right click on "My Network Places" > select properties > right click on your connection (LAN) > select properties > highlight Internet Protocal (TCP/IP) in the list and click on Properties > select "Use the following IP Address" and enter 192.168.1.2 > in the subnet mask make sure you have 255.255.255.0 > apply and ok.

Now re-try typing 192.168.1.1 in the browser.

** Don't forget to re-set it to DHCP address when you have finished configuring the router **

When I click on Apply, it says I have to enter a DNS Address. What is that and what info should I keyed in, where too?
