F-prot installation and configuration

Default F-prot installation and configuration

  1. Execute 'fp-win_trial.exe' for the downloaded version or setup.exe for the on-cd version
  2. Press setup when confronted with the next screen, when you own the payversion, setup will start immediatly. (click on the images for an enlargement)
  3. The setup files will be unpacked and the following screen will appear, press next
  4. Accept the license agreement, after reading it carefully offcourse, and press next
  5. Now choose where you want to install F-Prot. The default folder is just fine, but when you want to install the program elsewhere, select a new location and choose next
  6. Choose typical installation, this will install all components, and press next
  7. Choose what program group you want to create for the program, the default group is just fine, and press next
  8. After reviewing the installation summary press next once again
  9. The installation will now start and take a few seconds to minutes, depending on the configuration of your computer.
  10. Before finalizing the installation check 'run the updater now' and press next. This way you'll get the latest virusdefinitions
  11. The updating will take a few seconds to minutes, depending on your connection speed
  12. To finalize the installation, restart your computer
  13. After restartingh the F-prot scanner will perform a full systems can to ensure your system is clean. Also note the square in the systemtray with one block missing, this is the F-prot scheduler the 'filled' square is the on demand scanner, you're realtime protector. When the realtimescanner is disabled a red cross will appear
  14. After scanning you'll be presented the scan results
  15. Now, for configuring Fprot start the program via start->programs->fprot antivirus->on demand scanner. The following screen will appear. Informing you about the status of your virusdefinitions
  16. Choosing updater->settings will allow you to configure a proxy when you use one
  17. All other settings are set as they should be, congratulations you've installed and configured F-prot
