  3. The readme file will be presented, press 'Next'
  4. Choose 'I Agree' when the license agreement is presented (after reading it first...)
  5. Next, this screen will be presented (click on the images for a bigger one)
  6. choose typical configuration for maximum protection
  7. Choose next when the summary of the installation is presented
  8. Next, select 'no' when asked if Avast! needs to scan your harddrive after installation
  9. After the installation is completed select 'restart now' and ok
  10. After restarting these icons will appear in your taskbar, these give access to Avast!
  11. Next, it's time to update Avast. Rightclick on the 'A-icon' and select 'Update'. This can take quite a while, so sit back and relax. When the update is finished it might be necessary to restart when the program engine was updated. When asked to, restart.
  12. After updating (and rebooting) rightclick on the "A-icon' once again and choose 'Start Avast antivirus'. You'll be given this screen
  13. Select program registration and fill out the webform. Afterwards, you'll receive the registration key by email containing the serial
  14. After entering the serial you'll be confronted with this screen allowing you to configure Avast
  15. Click the topright icon (the harddrive) and change all settings to 'on'
  16. Change 'Standard scan' to 'Thorough scan' and check the box next to 'scan archives'
  17. Close the screen by choosing 'ok'
  18. Now rightclick the 'A-icon' (on the left, the one in the middle) and select 'On-access Protection' to configure On-access scanning
  19. Move the slider to 'High' when you experience problems you can change this to 'Normal' though this is not reccomended. Choose 'ok'
  20. Now your system is protected
Note: The following screen can appear when installing, after installing or when using Avast when you have Microsoft Anti Spyware installed choose 'allow' and uncheck 'send to spynet'
