Ewido installation, configuration and useage
- After downloading the program execute the installation file (ewido-setup.exe)
- Start the program select your language and choose 'ok'
- Press next when the pre-installation notice is shown
- Now the license agreement is shown. Read it carefully and choose 'I Agree' when you do. When you don't cancel the installation.
- You can now choose where to install Ewido, the default folder is recommended, but when you have all your programs in a different 'program files' folder you can change it here and choose 'next' afterwards

- Ewido, by default, creates a startmenu folder, you can change the name of the folder now and press 'next'
- Now check both items in the next screen. The background scanner will continuously protect you against malware. The 'context menu scan' allows you to right click on a file and choose 'scan with ewido'. Nice if you suspect a file of being/containing malware now choose 'install' (please note that "auto update" and the "background guard" will be disabled automaticly after 15 days unless you buy the app)

- The installation will take a few seconds to minutes, depending on the speed of your computer, so sit back and relax
- After installation the following two icons will appear, this is Ewido

- When Ewido has been disabled, either by you or malware the icon in the taskbar will change to this

- Now start Ewido, either by doubleclicking the desktop icon, or by rightclicking the taskbar icon and selecting 'launch main program'

- Now you're shown the main panel. When the program starts you'll be shown the status screen

- We go to the 'update' panel and choose update. When you use a proxy, you can enter the settings here.
- Then go to 'scanner' and perform a "complete" system scan to ensure your system is clean

- During the scan screens similar to the one below can appear, Do not check 'perform action with all infections'!
- We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so you need to step through the fixes one-by-one.* If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, AOL, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged.* In particular, watch for alerts that have the word "Heuristic" in them - if you recognize the file name as "friendly," these may actually be false positives) select "none" as the action.*

- The scanning will take quite a while so sit back and relax.

- After scanning, or when cancelling the scan (I couldn't wait...) You'll get this screen. You can perform a new scan, not necessary, save the report, nice when you want to review it later, or view the report immediatly. Those are all statistical functions so we don't choose one of them

- All other options are set as they should be. since you'll now receive realtime protection you don't need toperform a full system scan again a fast systems can will suffice, perform it once a week.
- Now for the last option, 'quarantine' here you can review the detected and quarantined files if you want some more information about them. when you're ready to delete all items, you can select them all (click the highest item whil holding shift, release shift afterwards and click the lowest item holding shift and releasing shift afterwards). Then choose 'remove finally'.

- You're done now. Keep in mind, the trial will only automaticly protect you for 15days, after those 15 days you're vulnerable again, unless you have other real time protection software. Manual updating and scanning however keeps working.
- Note:
If during your scan Ewido "crashes" or "hangs", please try scanning again. Before running the scan, click on 'Scanner' (the 3rd bar from the top on the left) and Choose 'Settings'. Uncheck 'Scan in NTFS Alternate Data Streams' as this can cause problems in overly infected systems. Click 'OK' and run a new scan.
