Default Antivir setup and configuration

Antivir installation and configuration guide
  1. Locate the downloaded file (avwinsfx.exe) and doubleclick it
  2. Press 'setup' to start the installation
  3. The following screen will appear (click on the image to enlarge), press 'next' and 'next' once again.
Note: the buttons named 'vorige', 'volgende', 'annuleren' and 'voltooien' are called 'back', 'next', 'cancel' and 'finish' in
  4. Next, the license agreement will appear, read it carefully and check the 'I agree' box if you agree, otherwise cancel the installation
  5. Also agree you are using this product for non-commercial purposes and use it at home only
  6. And yet another screen will appear, it's safe to check the box next to 'generate and submit a serial number'. This will greatly increase updating performance
  7. Once again a screen, telling you the program will be installed using the default security settings, press 'next' we will configure the program later on
  8. Now it's time to choose a folder for installation, it's best to leave the settings as they are, but changing them will not create any problems, press 'next'
  9. Press next once again when confronted with the four installation options (all boxes need to be checked)
  10. Choose 'no' when asked to read the readme.txt file
  11. Now you can create a desktop icon, enter a convenient name and press 'next'
  12. You'll receive a final installation screen, press 'finish'
  13. After pressing 'finish' a quick check of your system memory will be done, sit back a few seconds, this'll be over real quick
  14. After the system check a extended scan begins, you can stop this one, since we're going to configure and update Antivir first. (why scan using outdated virusdefinitions? Update them first and perform a full scan afterwards)
  15. Now for configuring Antivir
  1. Start antivir via start->programs->antivir->antivir
  2. Goto the update button and select it
  3. The update may take a few seconds to minutes, depending on your connection
  4. You'll get no notification the update is complete, the screen closes immediatly after updating, so don't worry
  5. Now rightclick on this iconand select configration
  6. You'll receive a warning select 'don't display this message again'
  7. Now your in the configuration screen. Goto repair and check all options
  8. Now goto 'heuristic' and enable all options setting win32 options to 'high'. If this causes a lot of false positives lower it to medium
  9. To finish goto 'unwanted programs' and choose 'select all'
  10. Press 'ok'
  11. To finish the total configuration once again goto the main program (step 1)->tools->scheduler
  12. When asked if the scheduler should start on windows boot choose 'yes'
  13. Now insert a new task, internetupdate and choose a time convenient for you
Now, for a scan, goto step 1 of the aboven plan. Check all your drives and choose scan now. This may take a while but really is necessary to ensure you're clean.
