Well, I used to have a pirated version of TFT, patched up to date, and I thought it was really good, so I bought the battlechest today. I got rid of all remnants of the old one, and installed. But now, when I start the game up, it stays at a black screen and slows me down like its eating up power, and i have to ctrl alt del, which comes up very slowly, and get out of it.

I've manually patched, reinstalled, etc, no fix found yet.

My specs are

Windows: Windows XP5.1 (Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.11
Memory (RAM): 1023 MB
CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 3400+
CPU Speed: 2185.7 MHz
Sound card: Realtek AC97 Audio

But like I said, worked flawlessy before.

Any ideas?

I'm glad to see that you went out and purchased yourself the game...always support the people who create our entertainment.

To me this sounds like a possible malware issue - which wouldn't surprise me due to the fact you had an illegal copy of a game with cracks that can contain all sorts of nasties.

Please follow the prework link in my signiture and post the resulting logs for the security team to have a look at.

Ares
Ares.exe is the virus form of the Gaobot.ee worm. Fairly old, it installs itself with the "ARES" P2P file sharing program.

WhenUSave
This is an adware that not only serves annoying advertisements, it also has an active protection against attempts to remove it. There are processes that continuosly check (guard) each other, this is also heavily on CPU power.


Please inform me whether you want to remove the above two programs.


For now, please launch HijackThis and place a checkmark by the following entries:
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)

Close all other windows except HijackThis and press "Fix Checked". Then close HijackThis and restart the computer.




Have you tried contacting Blizzard Support above your problem? This doesn't seem to have been caused by malware (even though your computer is infected), sounds more like a software problem.

I haven't contacted Blizz support yet, couldn't find a phone line or email address, but only looked for a few minutes, will try again

Also, to clarify that it was my pc and not the software, i tried running a friends game on my pc, same slowing happened.
