Default Install Windows XP FROM a USB stick

Hi

Recently I bought a HP 2133 Mini Notebook.

It comes with Home Edition and does not have an Optical Drive.

I wanted to Upgrade to Windows XP Professional -I have a license- but 45€ seemed too much for it.

Luckily I found the way to do it from a USB stick.

That's how:
Install Windows XP on a Mini-Note (USB stick method)

Default Re: Install Windows XP FROM a USB stick

I also have a netbook which had XP Home installed with no CD\DVD rom drive installed.

I formatted a 4 gig USB pen drive and copied the entire Vista disk to the USB pen drive.

I then plugged in the USB pen drive into my netbook and entered BIOS and set first boot to USB.

For some reason it would not boot from USB.

Anyway I logged onto XP and then installed Vista Ultimate 32 bit from withing windows using the USB pen drive.

Then once I did this and updated my drivers I plugged in a diffrent USB pen drive to transfer some software the darn thing tried to boot from USB.

But all is well Samsung NC10 is now running Vista with an upgrade to 2 gig DDR2.
