hey guys im trying to reformat my western digital 1T external hard drive to fat32 so it will run on my lg dvd player

i used windows to reformat using command promt format/FS:FAT32 F: it started and failed at some point during the night, now it wont read the hard drive at all, it doesant show up in my computer or when i retype the cmd promt again it comes up as invalid
but it does show up in device manager

any ideas on how to fix this so its formatted to fat32?

p.s im running vista sp2

it is also showing in the disk management as unallocated

Whilst converting a hard drive of this size to FAT32 (because of the space loss mainly) is not recommended, Western Digital do offer a tool for you to do this: How you can format your WD external drive in FAT32 file format using Data Lifeguard Tools - you will also need to use Linux to take the partition sizes with this tool to over 200GB in size. It's a big hassle and IMHO not worth it for multiple reasons.
