Hard Drives - Not being able to install Windows. RAGE! posted in the Hardware forums; ok what was the problem with the old hdd , was it dead or did you just want to get a bigger drive ?...

ok what was the problem with the old hdd , was it dead or did you just want to get a bigger drive ?

Well I got a bsod and couldn't get rid of it. I made a thread about it earlier

ok yep just had a quick look at that post ? you said you couldnt get it to reformat , how did you go about reformatting it ?
sorry this seem off course, but as you have a gateway recovery disc as it loads it may be looking for the hardware that the original computer had in it and now with the new drive in it cant find the hard drive it thinks should be in the computer.
so may be failing to start the recovery process

I just put my old one in and it went through everything but I got blue screens right after the startup. And windows was being loaded before no problem so I find that weird. And now all the sudden it doesn't work

Haha sorry. Umm goes to that screen I posted before then is like boot in safe mode, command prompt and some other ones. No matter which one I pick I still get a bsod. That's on my old hard drive btw.

sorry bud but its 1.25am here and ive got to get some shuteye ,
i will look up this again in the morning and im sure either myself, wolfey or one of the other techs will be able to continue and get to the bottom of it

(if you dont have data you want to keep on the original drive) try doing the recovery on that one bud ok
