hi nchls
firstly i would wholeheartedly agree with wolfey and arctos ,in saying just get another drive and use your current ex hdd as such , but if you are intent on trying it , i believe the 1 tb is a sata configured setup , so you would of course need sata ports on your motherboard or get a pci sata card , the screws (if there are any are probably under the rubber feet of the caddy , if there isnt any then it is a sealed unit which needs a butter knife to break an pull apart , which would sort of ruin your idea of using it again to put your old 40gb hdd in , and also mean that your 40gb hdd would also have to be a sata connection too, to be able to use the caddy , IF it would still be usable after disassembly best bet would be SEE FIRST PARAGRAPH , fixit |

Fixit thks.But i already managed to open the drive.Is is a sata II 3.0GB/s 7200RPM drive inside the seagate external desktop drive is a Barracuda 7200.12.Abit hard to open especially the unclipping off the plastic casing but the rest was easy like opening the metal cover and pulling out the sata hard disk.Thks all for your comments.Erm how to close thread?

No...Either u got me wrong or ur not up to date. I put sata II 3.0GB/s
either u thought i said my 1tb hdd was 3 gb or didnt believe my hdd is 3.0gb/s.Yes sata II is 3.0GB/s My hdd is 1TB.Lol
