Default Install a Sky+ UltraATA HD into a Vista PC?

hi, im new here and what a great site! i almost feel like i've been to college for a couple of days with some info i've been reading hehe!

anyway i've not found a solution to a prob i came here for so thought i'd start a new post!

my sky+ box was sat there doing nothing for a few months and i was going to sell it (for a fiver) but instead decided to take the hard drive out and try it in the pc but had no joy, what could i be doing wrong?

i plugged the one cable from the h.d. into the proper port on the motherboard. windows is not seeing it at all.

so i went into the BIOS and it doesn't seem to be showing up anywhere there either.

the drive works fine in the sky+ box and the cable all seems fine. should there be a power cable for the drive as well as the main cable?

otherwise i haven't a clue lol. any help would be much appreciated! cheers people!

I'm unsure about what's inside a SKY box so does the drive look like this;

or this

Listen to your old man, he knows.

Yeah plug the molex (power) in and then look in Disk Management and format the drive, then it's good to go.
