Have you installed all the latest updates for windows and installed all the drivers for your motherboard?
This could cause crashes.

Ok doing that now, although im not hopefull because updating was the main time it crashed, i get the feeling its whenever the hard drive is accessed or files added/moved on the harddrive, also wen it freezes if i wait long enough there is 1 beep out of the computer speaker

Rite smokey, i downloaded a program called uniblue which had a driver detective program, it found quite a few missing drivers which have now been downloaded and installed. one of which was a sata driver and usb and bus drivers so im quite hopefull that that has sorted the problem. so far so good. ill reply to this thread if it crashes again but it looks ok at the minute. Thanks for your help - are you going to reply if in a few days i write back saying it is still crashing?

Hi smokey, my computer is definately sorted now - thank you for you're help, i needed my pc working as i start my new job on monday and i was told i needed a working pc so thanks very much! bit embarresed i didnt think of it myself though as i did computers in college for two years so thanks!!!!
