Cool - yeah well I find it interesting as well - like I said could be the raid 0 set up.

As for hard-drive ideas I was thinking along of what type of brand and model you guys suggest getting if and when ever my current drive or drives die on me.

Either way sound has not change since I notice - think just going let it go its course and worry about it when it does fail - I got everything I wanted back-up anyway.

Hello Zakane.

Sorry for the delay...

Good that you have backed up. If things are truly on the way out, that's the ticket.

Let me bump this up again and see if we can't get a handle on it for you..

Thanks, once again, for you patience

2 HDDs come to mind immediately:

Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

Western Digital Caviar RE3 WD2502ABYS WD RE3 250GB SATA 3Gb/s 3.5in Internal Hot-swappable Hard Disk Drive-Best Computer Online Store Houston Buy Discount Prices Texas-Directron.com

I have two of each, setup in RAID 0 (obviously in 2 different computers ). Just be sure to make frequent backups since RAID 0 has no redundancy (mirroring).

BTW, I bought the RE3 drives from Directron because Newegg was out of stock on this drive when I got the urge.

Sir Trews agrees: Thanks Cobracon :)

Yeah I was thinking of a WS Black Cavier 640gig a single - I am done with raid 0. Just doesn't seem worth it.

I think one reason why I hear the hard-drive seeking and writing is because they both running.

Well, be your own guide. I think RAID 0 is a big deal and worth every bit of the minor trouble to set it up. Doubling your burst speed and everything else it adds to the party is a bonus. I have 2 computers running it now and will setup RAID 0 in another one ASAP. Regardless of how fast your CPU and RAM are, they all wait on a slow (single) HDD w/o RAID.

Don't worry about it so much if the error is gone. We have a Hitachi Deskstar in one of our computers, a gateway. It is very loud when seeking, its not just yours so don't worry.

Well I solved it!

Ok so my computer case has a interesting style of hard-drive cage - looks like this

http://techgage.com/reviews/tagan/ap...l_42_thumb.jpg

Both hard-drives have four rubber grommets and then it had a single standard hard-drive screw in the center. I removed the middle screw - It has "dramaticly" decrease the sound of my Hard-drives - I can hear it if I put my ear up to the case but I really have to be listening.

Two small tiny screws have had me worried for nothing they so so quiet its really unbelievable!
