Default HELP! Made my data hdd partition logical from prim

Hi

I'm wondering if there is anyway i can stills see my data.

Here's what i did:

I have 2 hdd-s 250gb both, seagate sata.
On HDD1 i had windows xp sp3 pro and on the other, HDD2 i had most of my graphics work, large psd-s and 3d renders.

I was planning to install clean fresh xp on my HDD2, so I resized the current partition on it from max to 175gb, leaving 57gb empty, unallocated space. Then i created partition in that space and formated it NTSF.
Some reason I thought i had to change the 175gb partition from primary to logical because i thought i would have problem installing xp. I found out later that it was only with older windows that you needed to have only 1 primary partition per hdd.

So did I loose my files by changing my data partition from primary to logical?

At this moment i have it like this:
HDD2:

unallocated 2047.9 gb
logical disk not formatted(why is it unformated???) 175gb - shows active atm
logical disk NTFS 57gb (this is where i intended to instal new xp) - shows inactive atm

I'm using paragon partition manager for this.
I'm just posting before doing anything else, just to make sure if there is any danger to my data on that partion 175gb.

I was gonna next try to set the 57gb partiton active and make it primary.

Thanks for any help and welcome to ask any questions if im being confusing!

Yes. This happened to my second HDD.

I have two HDD-s. And it happened to the one that i was storing my work files on. Just stupid mistake by me to make it logic in partition manager. I wish partition manager had some warning for that procedure. I got advice from another forum that the procedure should not have affected my files, but it just makes my partition not viewable anymore.

So i was adviced to use getadataback to be able to view the files and backup them to another hdd.
I'm doing the scan currently. i'm half way through, had 1 error so far. I hope its nothing serious.

I'm still open to any suggestions and tips
and thank you for your reply!

Tom are you logging onto C: drive?

I would advise logging on to C: as your files were origonaly on second HDD.

I think the second HDD should of been backed up before you started to resize or create partitions as using a third party software can cause loss of data or corruption.

umm i had it this way:

C: - 250gb SATA HDD, had my windows xp on there, all programs installed there and other files.
E: - another 250gb, almost indentical SATA HDD. I was using this as my data HDD, nothing installed on there. I was gonna make room and install new windows on there though before this happened.

I had resized the only primary partition on E: to 175gb, leaving me rest empty allocated space, where i then created NTFS partition for OS installation.
But then i made the first partition with data ''logical'' for stupid confusion.
Ended up having
E:
partition 1 - 175gb - unformated
partition 2 - 57gb - NTFS

I hope that clears it.
I also have not restarted pc to prevent data loss.

I'm doing getdataback scan currently on E:

My C: is working fine, and able to use windows.
Just cant access E: - windows explorer says Unformatted.

EDIT:
yes, i should have backed up data :P, but didnt have any spare hdd-s big enought to backup whole hdd. i hope this lesson ends well.

Ok i got the scan results. Not too good, I've checked some of the folders and some of the files seem to be corrupt.
I wonder if i do restart will that do any good? Because maybe the scan isnt able to detect yet? I havent booted after i made it logical. OR that wont make any difference if i restart computer?

I'm also gonna try R-studio and see if it gets any better results. If not then i just go with what i can get. Looks like sort of half of the stuff i can get.
