Default Missing hard drive!

This is wierd! My wife's PC gave her a message that she needed to update Windows. She selected update and when the system restarted, no hard drives were available and we could not restart in eithwer of the Safe modes! XP Pro with sefvice pack 3. I suspect some kind of virus, but I cannot find any reference to one that has this kind of behavior.

I also tried using a system disk in the floppy drive and neither of the 2 drives were available.

Hi there,

Did you try "Last known good configuration" from the "safe mode" menu?
