hard drive probes?
hi newbie to this site,my pc won,t always start up,i have nuked and boot seagate barracuda 80gig hard drive i want to start from cd xp rom to try and repair mbr and bad sectors? can anyone give me detail advise to help me with this please

thanks for your reply,since we sent it we have re boot and nuked and try start again,this as now completed and says:dban finished with non fatal errors, this is usually caused by bad sectors,been to there help forum without any answers,do we just reinstall win xp or can you suggest anything else thanks graham

hmmmm...there's a bit of a contradiction as if you have bad sectors on the drive before you install the operating system, this could cause yousome headaches in the future. Have you considered buying a new hard drive?
