Default External HDD for games???

Hey guys, I bought a laptop at Xmas with a 160GB HDD, which i thought would be enough, but turns out it isnt. Ive been looking on the net at external HDD's and need to know whether an external HDD would be able to run games straight from the HDD, rather than using it as a backup. I put in a link to the HDD in question:

Play.com (UK) : Freecom Classic 250GB 3.5" External USB2.0 Hard Drive / Black : Computing - Free Delivery

Cheers

Hi
In your games installation wizard it will ask you for a Directory for where you want to install it if you have the External HDD plugged in you can choose to install it on the external HDD, it will install it there not on the internal HDD. And it will run off that instead.

But laptops arnt really a good option for gaming.

Hey

It should do if you say your laptop has good specs, any game should install on the Ext HDD and run off it.

I think it would also depend on your external HDD. I know I just purchased one, and it says it won't allow a download of over 4gigs. Now, I don't know if it would be different with an install from a disc (I haven't had to DL anything that big or install onto the HDD anything that big), but I know a lot of the games coming out (and already out) are larger than 4gigs (I believe WoW is somewhere around 5).

@DriftMonster

You need to format your external hard drive to NTFS at the moment it will be Fat32 which doesnt allow files larger then 4gb
