yeah formating to NTFS is best when handling dvds and other large files. I use a freecom 500gb external usb 2.0 (samsung hdd inside). Games seem to run fine off it. Examples: trackmania games, halo. They can transfer around 26mb per second, so are fast and can probably handle several other games too.
