Hello epettaway, welcome to PCHF.

It should be giving you an error message? and does it stop at the same point every time?

Before it comes to formatting the partition, select the option to remove the partition (D), and then create an new one (C). You'll have a new partition to work with. Any problems formatting your drive after that are likely to be physical issues.

Hi and welcome to PCHF!

What error are you getting? Try using fdisk on an XP boot disk (you can get that from bootdisk.com) to remove and repartition then format it.

Regards,
Adam

I wonder if it can't delete the partition because the Preload is in the same partiton. Do you have a windows CD?

R U sure your not trying to format and partition the preload partition and not the windows partition. how many partitions can you see in the windows install where you delete/format partitons
