Default CDROM Problems

I reformatted the harddrive, and I couldn't put windows xp back in through Dos. It requires Windows. So my first step was to install Windows Me and then Xp. My problem is, after I installed Win.Me it wouldn't recognize the CdRom. To change the driver I need a Inf. file to connect with the driver. Can anyone help me out there? It's a mitsumi brand.

Hi,

So you only have an XP upgrade CD? That's ok as you have done the hard part - putting another upgradeable Windows version onto the PC first. Is your CD rom recognized in the BIOS?

you can install an upgrade without an os on the machine as long as you have a cd of the old OS

Installing a Windows XP Upgrade CD without a Previous OS installed

Thanks for the reply. Yes the BIOS recognizes it ,but I guess the driver doesn't.I tried changing the settings to a different interupt number and address number, but that didn't work. I also tried setting it to automatic, and no luck. I downloading a file from Mitsumi and tried to upgrade the driver but it ask for a inf. file which didn't come with the zip file I downloaded Any Ideas?
