ive got this 500GB hard drive just after christmas and it has'nt really given me any problems, but like the fool i am i tried to install 3 games onto it at once then i guess the installations collided with eachother and stopped responding.I had no choice but to close them and now my laptop (or computer) cant see my hard drive but the odd thing is it still makes the chime when a usb is connected when i plug it in but theres no way to access it.

please help, what should i do? theres alot things on it i dont want to lose

Hi welcome to PCHF have a look under diskmanagement is it in there? its in the control panel under adinistrative tools. If it is try changing the drive letter and see if it reappears under my computer

thank you, no ive looked under disk managment, ive run a scan for it, looked in a list of attached hardware, even tried turning it off and on again but still cant get access to it.

Have you tried a system restore to a day before you had the problem? I'd try this next

just peformed a system restore, still no change, the was an alert before the system restore saying the external was excluded since it has been turned off and it says that for all the restore points available.
