Default Serial ATA being recognised as IDE HDD

Hi. I have a Samsung R60 + laptop, unmodified. It came with a 160gb S-ATA HDD, but it would appear that the laptop is only recognising it as a IDE HDD. This hasn't been a problem so far, but i have just tried to install iATKOS, which requires a S-ATA HDD and it cannot see the partition the i have created for it at all.
i looked into my bios to see if i could find any info, and i looked at the boot sequence, and i have:
1 - IDE CD/DVD
2 - IDE HDD
etc
etc.
Now, ive taken off the bottom panel and looked at the HDD and it clearly states that it is a S-ATA drive and the connections back that up.
This is really doing my head in now. All help will be appreciated. If you need anymore information on the laptop, i will try to find out as much as i can.
Thank you,
Luke

Ummm -- everything I can find on iATKOS says it's a Macintosh app--that won't work.

its actually nick-named 'hackintosh' cos you can dual boot with vista. ive read some stuff saying that my computer might be 'IDE emulating' and that if i run the drivers for the SATA HDD on a floppy disk (on a drive i dont have ) then it should sort out the problem. sound about right?

On the MB there are bios switches that allow sata to be recognized as ide. Check your BIOS on how you have configured it..

Set BIOS to boot from SCCSI device

Unless you intend to use a RAID set up you shouldn`t need to reset the BIOS, but you may need to ensure it is seeing both IDE and SATA drives. I believe your motherboard automatically detects SATA drives but you may have to set detection to `Auto`.

The SAMSUNG R60 was built for Vista NOT for a MAC OS?
