Exclamation Hard Drive Revival

Hello. About a week ago I was messing around inside my computer when my hard drive dropped. When I tried to pick it up, it was scolding HOT. It was running until I shut down the computer. After that, it wouldn't spin-up. I don't know if there's a way to revive it or not. Any help is APPRECIATED! Thx!

P.S. It's a Western Digital 1600JB 160 GB Hard Drive with ? MB Cache.

Hi jmarket, try putting it in a polythene bag and freezing it for a few hours. Sound crazy? well apparently it does the trick lol. Just make sure to wipe off any condensation when you take it out.

Pgh is correct but that's only a temporary solution (If it works). The drive will most likely fail for good a few hours after so you would have to backup what you can and be prepared to buy another hdd.

Thanks guys! You have been a BIG help! I don't know what I'd do without you guys! I'll try that and see what happens. Who knows, it might stay "spinned up" for a little longer. I think I'll just go buy a new HD. Thx and have a GREAT day!!!!
