Default IDE cable

I have recently resolved a problem running two DVD writes on the same IDE cable. I simply replaced a 40 wire cable with an 80 wire one (as per manufacturer's recommendations for the new DVD drive !!). I also have a 40 wire IDE cable for my 2 hard drives. Would replacing this 40 wire cable for an 80 wire one improve the access times of the HDDs ? I guess more information is needed to answer this question but I am not sure what extra info is needed.

Thanks in advance.

Default Re: IDE cable

Scrap ALL of your 40 wire IDE ribbon cables. If for no other reason, they are highly succeptible to crosstalk.
