Default [Answered] Partition Trouble

I deleted a second partition and added it to one whole partition, the problem is that i am still asked what partition i want to load before boot up, althought the vista partion is no longer there. PLease help me get rid of the partiton choice when only one partition is existant. THanks

thanks but my boot.ini file does not include anything about the vista partition i had before, it only shows my existing os - xp home

Ok try this
Right click on My Computer icon...go to Properties...Advanced tab....hit Settings under Startup and Recovery....select the default OS and then uncheck the box for "Time to display list of operating systems

When you looked at your boot.ini did you access it from msconfig? did you check the box that says "check all boot paths"?

Do you have your xp cd? if so try this... Boot from the windows XP CD, press the "R" key in the setup in order to start the restoration console. Select your windows XP installation from the list, and enter the administrator password.
Enter the command: "FIXMBR" (without the quotes) at the input prompt and confirm the next question with a "Y" (without the quotes). Use exit to restore the computer.

Hi, dunno if ur still having this problem..... i found a fix that works, i know it works cos i tried it lol... download vistabootpro from here> VistaBootPRO - Go PRO with Microsoft Windows Vista Boot Manager while you are in XP, when its installed look through the settings and you will be able to delete vista from the boot up menu
