Oh **** don't say that. That would be the worst nightmare ever. I store 3/4 of all my music and movie files there, and I really need all of them back. It should cost me a fortune.
Did you dis-mount the drive every time you unplugged it? If you don't then there is a distinct likelyhood that the drive or the USB to hard drive interface is broken. If it gets to a "last ditch" attempt at recovering the data, you could break open the enclosure and attach the drive as a normal internal hard drive...you may be able to get the data off like that.
Also, try this;
Re-install the hard drive drivers (if you have any) and then turn the hard drive off with the machine and then turn the hard drive on first, before you switch on the PC.
