Question Formatted hard drive smaller.

I recently formayyed my secondary hardrive ( western digital 80GB) with windows xp. The hard drive was a 80 GB capacity. After the format, the hard drive capacity now shows 31.4 GB on windows. What happened to the approx 50 Gb? It is obviously sometrhing to do with fomatting the drive but what? I formatted it to NTFS and then formatted again to FAT32...and still shows a capacity of 31.4GB.

Any ideas why and how to get back the full capacity?

Default Re: Formatted hard drive smaller.

Hi have you tried to delete the partitions on the drive and recreate them then format the drive to see if you get the full size?
