Default [Answered]Bleeping noise

Thanks for taking time to read this. The problem is that everytime i turn on my computer (dell dimension 5150c) it makes a loud bleeping noise which is coming from the computer itself. It makes this bleeping noise which lasts about 1 min. The noise itself goes off every second for 2 seconds within this min. The pc recently fell to its side so im guessing somthing had been knocked out of place but in not quite sure what.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to PCHF rollingtank,

here is a list of beep codes that will tell you what is wrong with your dell.

Beep Codes

Your computer might emit a series of beeps during start-up if the monitor cannot display errors or problems. This series of beeps, called a beep code, identifies a problem. One possible beep code (code 1-3-1) consists of one beep, a burst of three beeps, and then one beep. This beep code tells you that the computer encountered a memory problem.

Thanks for the reply. It does one long beep then one fairly short one. I dont know if this means anything but the numbers 3 and 4 are lighted up on front of the computer?

Ok thanks for the info.

If your 3 & 4 LED lights on the front are lit up this is your problem.

Welcome to PCHF!

It looks like a memory issue...

Memory modules are detected, but a memory failure has occurred.
  • If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  • If available, install properly working memory of the same type into your computer.
  • If the problem persists, contact Dell (see your computer Owner's Manual for information about contacting Dell).
