That may be because of the way you imaged the drive. I'm no expert and I haven't cloned any drives in a while but you should be able to clone to a larger drive. I suspect you cloned the partition over to the second drive, which mirrored the 40 gig partition. You will have to read up on the software you are using to sort out what option to use. I know Maxblast and Datalifegaurd will copy over to a larger partition/drive. Acronus true image will do it too if you pick the right options.

Nope..he new computer is set up to automatically recognize a IDE drive.
I put the old one in the old computer as the master ..it only started in safe mode.
I tried as a slave to the real drive...no
Then just the real drive and i had a hard time getting it to boot
Now I have just my old dive in my old computer, and it is back working! I am going to try to connect my new drive as a slave and reimage it
thanks

Hi cyberjan, I've recently cloned a complete drive to a larger hdd. I used HDClone to clone the original drive to the new one. to do this, set the new drive to slave run HDClone, then set the new drive as master and remove the old drive. I then used Partition Magic to resize the new drive. you can also use Patrition Magic to create more Partitions on a drive for other Operating Systems.

Thanks ian..that is exactly what I want to do.
I did put the new drive in set to slave[which is already cloned but I was going to do it again cuz it did not boot up when i put it in alone as a master] However, the pc froze. And after that I took it out and my old master froze on the windows splash screen. I had to reboot then wait about 1/2 hour before it booted. Is that odd? Maybe it didnt freeze maybe it is taking 1/2 to reboot and reconfigure???
I will try it again and wait 1/2 hour for it to boot... then i will clone, I have ghost on my old drive...and then I will try to boot up with it.
Wish me luck.
thanks
Jan

How did it go?.
1/2 hour to boot is a bit excessive you should have booted within a minute or two.
You will have to erase the original clone before doing it a second time otherwise you could end up with two bootable partitions containing the same OS.
