hi, I've some trouble with my hd, I can't install OS because, it says that cannot access the hard drive. when I try to use fdisk, it says that can't access the hard drive. when I try to format the hard drive, the operation is terminated.. what should I do to fix this problem. please...
I'm using acer aspire 1350 notebook with ST94019A hard drive, detected in bios.

Hi welcome to PCFH in fdisk did you delete and recreate the partition then format the drive? What O/S are you trying to install?

hi Madmatt, actually I can't do anything in fdisk. after i type fdisk and enter, it says that, can't access the hard disk or something like that. so I've done anything in fdisk. yesterday late in the afternoon, I'm using the debug.exe to erase the partition. and it works, I can create partition using fdisk command. but when I try to install win XP pro sp2, after I press enter to setup, the partition was not there, it say that can't access the hard drive. so i try to format it with bootable disk. and it still going till right now, the format process is say trying to recover allocation unit. it's almost 20 hours, and the format is still running.. is my hard disk is broke so bad? do I need to change it? nb: sorry if my english is bad...

Howdy retiger..

DO you have access to a floppy disk? If so you can use nuke disc. THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTING ON THE HARD DRIVE..
If you have bad blocks it will fix it.. It takes a good 24 hours to do this.. When you boot from it tell it to write 0's to the drive.. If you do not have acess to a floppy then use the UBCD and just burn it to a bootable cd..
