Default Hard drive/Cd drive Ide cable

Hi,

Does it matter if i plug the end of the cable that is surposed to go into the motherboard into the cd, the middle of the cable into the hard drive and the end that would usually be the cd slave into the motherboard?? any help would be appreciated.

wow.. honestly i dont know. ive never tried it. i would assume that it would work, but i cant garuntee it. just wondering, why would you do that anyway? cant you use 1 ribbon cable for HDD and one for CD?

I am building a lego pc just as a chalenge and that is the only way i can get the cables to fit as it is very compact.

i suppose it could work. try it and see what happens. in any case it wont hurt anything.

im not saying that its not a possibility that it wont show up, im merely saying it could POTENTIALLY work, and unless there is something wrong with the components, it wont hurt it. i would try it out on my computer, but im at school during study hall now so i cant.
