Question [Resolved]Hard Drive confusion

hi All, I've been given a Hitachi Deskstar HDD which I'm wanting to use as a second drive on my XP system. Problem is, I've put it into my enclosure to reformat it only to find that Windows explorer doesn,t recognise it, so I'm unable to format it. Now then if I look through the Device Manager I find the HDD is listed.
The question is...How do I get Windows to show the drive in windows explorer so that I can reformat it, or indeed, is there another way of formatting the drive so I can use it?
Thanks
Ian

Hi there, right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage" click on "Disk Management" and if the drive is listed, right click and select format

Thanks MadGamer for that, the drive is currently formatting itself. As a silly question... how would I solve this problem if the drive had not been listed ?
