Default [Answered] ide hard disk convert to sata with adaptor

hi i'm new to the forum, i would like to say hi to everyone and thanks to any responses to any questions i may ask

i have a ide 320GB hard drive which i haven't used before, i would like to connect this hard disk to my motherboard as a replacement to a sata hard disk (which got corrupted) but i don't have the necessary jumper cables, but i do have the sata cables from my sata disk, i was wondering if i could connect the ide disk to my sata cables through this adapter LinITX.com - IDE Drive - SATA Drive Converter

do you think it is possible to do this?

the ide disk is not formatted, what about installing the xp o/s would i need to configure bios

i don't know if it's possible to do this, if it's possible will i need any other hardware? what about bios? any help would be much appreciated

many thanks in advance

Hello kiko1, welcome to PCHF.

Yes it does work, I currently have an IDE CD-ROM connected in the same way. Your BIOS will see your HDD as a SATA device. Remember that even though you are connected via SATA, you will still operate at slower IDE speeds since your HDD is still IDE.
