Ok I accidently removed ntldr file and from there it all got a lot worse. I tried reinstalling windows and that didn't work, the setup gets past the agreement and then tells me no disk is detected. So I tried reinstalling the drivers for it and when I start to reinstall the drivers it tells me

found ST3160023AS
Setting new drive configuration
Error: Drive does not support power management modes

Mike

...Oh my. Of all the files you could have deleted, why did it have to be NTLDR? That pretty much makes most of the things I'd have you do be impossible, but do not fear!

If you can boot from your Windows CD (as if you were going to reinstall), try to select the repair option by pressing R at the disk's menu.

Yea, for some reason i thought a virus put a fake copy of it on there and well I was wrong, obviously :P, the sad thing is that i have my A+ Cert. Lol.

So anyway, when I hit R it just gives me DOS for the most part. Right now i'm trying something from webfoot that deletes everything that is on the hard drive so i'm hoping that will maybe that will help me get the drivers reinstalled.

Umm well I deleted that partition with the boot disk, I thought I put that up there, but it doesn't seem I did. :\

madmatt: That's pretty much exactly what I meant, and now I feel silly! It is, to my knowledge, possible to repair this through Repair Console, though, is it not? I mean, copy the file from the disk into the appropriate folder and reboot? Just a curious observation, because I believe I recall fixing a similar problem that way in the past before I could boot to do a SFC scan, but there's a small chance I'm remembering wrong.

But there is no XP or anything on the hard drive now, logically I should just be able to reinstall windows, but if it's not detected then i can't do anything. I even tried a new hard drive, but with that one it didn't get to license agreement before it told me that there was no HD
