Default Restoring data from HD.

Hi,

I'll make it quick, I'm not in a mood to write long.
I took my HD to friend, to copy some (Actually lots of) files.Connected and detected, but his XP didn't want to access it. So we went into "Managing Discs", and "Initiated" my hard disc. Nothing Changed.
Reset.
Now in Discs management I see ~73GB of unlocated space. When I came back home, my HD became unaccesible. Or in other words, all data disappeared. I reinstalled WIndows, in order to post a message here:
Is this possible to restore data when it was lost due such kind of thing?

I hope it is understandable what I mean. And classic Restoaration program didn't work, it just crashed itself, hence all the drives but C: are yet to be formatted.

Thanks in Advance.

Heya and welcome to PCHF,

Did you do a QUICK format or a standard format? If you did a QUICK then it should be restorable as the data is merely hidden and over-written as necessary. If you did a standard, then you're more or less screwed =\

If there is VERY important data on it you can take it to a specialized company that can restore 'lost' data but that is VERY expensive, as far as I know there are only a few companies worldwide that can do this...
What program(s) did you use becouse you mentioned

Thanks RobMan.I didn't realize, that there can be more advanced programs (Or maybe rather it didn't pop in my mind). Well, you can always learn semething new everyday ^_^. I used some other software, and managed to recover all data (Excepting of course Old Windows, and Program FIles, though this is not a problem).

And well, the data is not THAT important, but it would take me lots of time to recreate all that stuff.

Keep Going
