Exclamation Slave drive detected in device manager but not in my computer

i have an acomdata e5 series external hard drive. the usb port was damaged, so i took out the harddrive and installed it into my pc as a slave drive. the pc detects the drive, and only shows up in BIOS and device manager. it doesnt show up in the "my computer" folder. the hard drive has a built in password protection program. i have data in the drive i would like to retrieve. does anyone know what i can do? thanks!

Try right clicking on "my computer" and click on "manage".

(Keep in mind I'm using linux right now so my info will be approximate as I can't walk myself through this from here on).

Once the computer management console find something along the lines of "drive management" or "disk management" and click on that.

Right click in some open space in the right hand pane and select "rescan drives".

See if that works.\

If not then you may have to open the "add hardware" wizard and simply go the manual route, you will then choose "hard drives" as the type of hardware that you want to add and you should see your secondary drive from there, try adding it and it should show up under "my computer".
