Default Unrecongisable HDD

i have recently accquired a SATA 2 western digital 250GB HDD, but all my data is in my SATA maxtor 200gb HDD. After installing win xp pro in the WDC HDD (master drive), i tried to use the maxtor hdd. Though on a couple of occasions i could not get the mobo to detect it but it still could detect after a few times. But the strange phenomenon occurred, i could not see the hardware name of my secondary HDD which was the maxtor hdd - forgot to highlight it was a secondary hdd previously. My best guess at it would be SATA 2 & SATA 1 do not operate amicably in the same environment. Would anyone kindly direct me to solve this issue thanks!

Oye,

Either your drive isn't properly plugged in, or it's not working properly (hardware failure). I checked around and SATA1 and SATA2 drives should have no problems working together happilly.
