Talking hard drive data transfer?

Hi, I am having all the bits for me to build my new computer tomorrow, putting it together wont be a problem, but I have a question about transferring data from my old hard drives to my new ones. My old drive are an IDE connection, the new drive I am getting is SATA. I am unsure of how to connect them so i can transfer my files on to it. The motherboard I am getting has 1 IDE port on it, would it be possible to have my new drive as a master in the SATA part of the motherboard and my old drive as a slave in the IDE? That is the only thought I have had on how to do it, apart from burning everything to DVD, which I really dont want to do and is a hassle and waste of DVD's! And help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, you could do that. Just set the hard drive jumper for the SATA to Master and the IDE to Slave.

Good luck,
Adam

Or you could interconenct the two PC's via any of the following: serial, parallel or network ports.

FYI - SATA doesn't use the same master/slave system...

1 sata port = 1 drive
SATA0 = primary
SATA1 = secondary
SATA2 = tertiary
so on and so forth...
