Default Sata 2 Hdd ?

I am currently using an intel D865PERL, it's equipped with SATA connectors. But would a SATA 2 HDD be compatible with my mobo. Would flashing my mobo aid in accepting the new protocol of sata 2? would a sata and sata 2 co-exist in the same environment without glitches?

Hi lebron,

SATA2 is hardware specific, and cannot be installed by flashing the BIOS.
If you put a SATA2 hdd in a SATA1 plug, it should run at the speed of SATA1 - but still work.

I've got 4 sata2 hard drives and 2 sata1 drives...they co-exist perfectly fine

Your mobo does not have SATA2 but as GarHar said a sata2 device should still work in the sata 1 connectors
