Another quick update. Processor fan is ok, i gave all the fans a bit of a dust down not that long ago. Bios is updated to the latest version.

Checked for smart in the bios but the sata drive didnt show in the list where i can change it, said there was no drive there but it did show where i could add it to the boot sequence. I went in on the slot that said it had no drive and added smart anyway.

Theres a smart option on speedfan aswell so i had a look at that. The sata drive seemed ok on there as far as i could tell but on my C drive i noticed an error/warning sign under 'UltraATA CRC Error Rate' Value - 200, worst 1. Is that anything i should be worried about? I can get some screen grabs of the results if needed. Thanks.

Turns out it was my cable!

I found another cable that converts an ide cnnection to sata so ive had that in over the weekend & had no problems at all.

I think the connector on the old sata cable was buckled & it looks like thats why i had problems.

Thanks again for all the support, it was very much appreciated.

We are glad things worked out Zom-B. Heavens! I must have missed you saying you were using a SATA to IDE adapter. Be that as it may, it still doesn't let me off the hook. As a tech, one of the first things I should have advised was to check your cables and connections. Connections can loosen over time and cables can and will go bad. New cables are cheap so why not have a spare on hand.

Good work Zom-B.
