I have a 320gb Seagate baracuda 7200 rpm drive. I put the ide connector in upside down or backwards or something and one of the pins got pushed in. I was able to pull it out but its still not all the way level with the other pins. (maybe a few mm shorter) .

Is there any way I can fix this. If not a permanente solution then just a short one to get my data off? Its fine if it hurts the drive the important thing is that my data is safe.

I'm not too sure what to suggest but try line it up as best you can and wriggle the IDE cable in, If you get it in keep it there.

As for a solution to get data off you'd probably be looking at either a hack job with a soldering iron or finding an IDENTICAL drive and swapping the PCB's over which may or may not work depending on how careful you are and the drive configuration.

Other than that, I have no Idea, not something I've ever done, thankfully.

One of my friends talked about this. The problem is that its not broken all the way off but I guess I can do that myself.
